Before the double-height extension was added to the rear of the property, this home had a more conventional layout. The interior felt somewhat confined, with limited natural light and a lesser sense of connection to the outdoor space.

Our focus was on authenticity and transparency. The extension's architectural language speaks volumes about its honesty, with the oak frame serving both as a structural element and an integral part of the glazing system. To enhance the connection with nature, the oak has been treated with a pre-weathering stain, expediting the natural weathering process and adding a touch of timeless charm.

This project boasts minimal steel elements, a testament to our dedication to pushing boundaries and finding innovative solutions. The double-height space within the extension serves as a captivating bridge between the open-plan living space on the ground floor and the first-floor gallery, creating a harmonious flow that enhances the overall spatial experience.

Strategically positioned to capture the essence of natural light, the south-facing extension radiates warmth and luminosity. The living garden room and kitchen, located on the southern side, benefit from an abundance of daylight, fostering a bright and inviting atmosphere throughout. The lower section of glazing takes the form of a sliding door, effortlessly merging the interior with the exterior and providing direct access to the enchanting garden beyond.
